The Mothers' Union is a modern, active Christian organisation with over 4 million members in 80 + countries united by a shared belief in the value of families.
In developing countries, MU members work with governments in securing justice, fair trade, education and healthcare. Literacy and Financial Development projects (L&FD P) are run in three African countries enabling women to be more independent and respected.
In the UK, the Government often consults MU when issues concerning families and children are involved. MU has campaigned in other fields including against the Commercialisation of Childhood, and Against Gender-Based Violence.
The MU At St Peters
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 2.00pm in the Church Hall, Free Street and on the first Thursday of alternate months at 7.30pm in the Stables, Free Street. Both groups have a programme of interesting talks and social activities.
